3. Time Control and Format
Open, Swiss System; FIDE-rated and titled

The rate of play will be 90 minutes for the whole game with 30 seconds increment for every
move starting from the first move.

*Note that FIDE ratings and titles are subject to endorsement by the Malaysian Chess Federation

4. Prize Fund (RM 40,000)

Open:
1st Prize – RM10,000; 2nd – RM5,000; 3rd - RM3,000; 4th to 10th – RM1,000 each; 11th t0 20th –
RM500 each

Blitz:
1st Prize – RM1,000; 2nd – RM500; 3rd – RM300; 4th to 5th – RM100 each

5. Entry Fees to be payable by 31 August 2009; thereafter a 50% penalty of applicable entry
fee applies.

Open: GM/IM/WGM/WIM and players over 2400 F.O.C.
FM/WFM and players over 2300 RM100
2200-2299 RM150
2000-2199 RM200
1900-1999 RM250
Unrated and below 1900 RM300

*First 10 GM/IM/WGM/WIM and players over 2400 registering will get free board and lodging
Blitz: GM/IM/WGM/WIM and players over 2400 F.O.C.
FM/WFM and players over 2300 RM50
Others RM100

*The KL Chess Association and its agents reserves the right to accept and reject entries.

6. The Playing Venue & Official Hotel

The tournament playing venue will be announced later. Please check www.klchess.com for
details.

Official accommodation is at either a 3 star: Rate per day is single at RM250/USD70 inclusive of
3 meals or Twin/triple at RM150/USD40 per person inclusive of 3 meals.
Note that entries for Indian players will be facilitated by our representative Praful Zaveri (E:
prafulzaveri@hotmail.com, M: +919820547548).
